The sad fate of Aaron Hernandez…….

The sports media for the past two weeks has been plagued by the gradual openings on the  crime story of Aaron Hernandez involvement in Odin Lloyd’s murder. It is reminiscent of the Ray Lewis murder involvement or Rae Carutth’s disappearance for murder or the infamous OJ Simpson murder trial.  Day after day, more evidence leaks to the public that packs on the already “strongly circumstantial evidence” on Aaron Hernandez as said by the presiding Judge during this bail hearing. Stories of strained relationship with teammates, gang affiliations, old police questionings on possible  murder in Florida, bar fights, domestic disturbances, It seems that the world has turned his back against him and bringing any little information out of the woodwork.

The near abysmal fate of Ray Lewis

During his draft day, teams abstained from him because of his checkered past but was a first round grade, he was picked by the New England Patriots. The Patriots are very disciplined and demand utmost professionalism at all times and I felt that the team structure would change his ways. The murder of Odin Lloyd has put a  young premier tight end that was highly feared as the two offensive tight end duo (Gronkowski and Hernandez) in the dark pits of solitude. Patriots and the NFL has  successfully washed their hands off the him; the Patriots are even petitioning to recover most of the guaranteed money from him based on the owners-players agreement plan that called for “recompilation of guaranteed salary especially in high profile crime cases tin the  impending detriment of the team”( 40 million, 16 million guaranteed). Aaron’s case should be cautionary tale to the NFL and even sports players  across the world about the bringing questionable people around you. In my perspective, I believe he is involved in the murder based on the presented evidence but did he commit murder?…..It is a tough sell because the evidence points to conspiracy to commit murder, obstruction of justice but  we can never know who pulled the trigger unless one of his conspirators takes a plea bargain and points the finger at Hernandez……

If he makes it out this dilemma; which is highly unlikely,Is the NFL going to support him or any team pick him up…I don’t think so……SUCH A SAD STORY…..  On the field, I was a big fan of Aaron’s style of play, he and Gronkowski revolutionized the tight end position, but his personal life has put a bitter taste in my mouth.

At his pinnacle
Fall from grace…..Aaron’s arrest

My 2013 Houston Texans Draft …..

In the advent of the NFL draft, Texans have obvious needs the be addressed to become an AFC playoff mainstay. The Colts are currently at the heels of the Texans beacause of the 2012 strong draft class (Andrew Luck, T.Y Hilton and Vick Ballard) and texans have to take them as serious contenders. Looking  at the current draft class and Texans depth chart, they are concerns at certain positions

1. WR- Ist round Pick 27 Deandre Hopkins, receiver out of Clemson and Robert Woods of USC. They both will a great opposite Andre Johnson but if I had to choose one- Hopkins

2. 2nd round pick 25 pick:Right Tackle/Inside Linebacker – Menelik Watson of Florida State or Alec Ogletree of Georgia(if available). I think that Houston would go with Watson if Ogletree is not available.

3. 3rd round pick 27 pick: Inside Linebacker- Jon Bostic of Florida.

4. 3rd round pick 33 pick: Outside linebacker- In the depature of Connor Barwin, I think they need another outside pass rusher with Mercilus and Brooks reed- Jamie Collins of  Southern Mississippi.

5. 4th round pick 27 pick: Cornerback/Defensive end – William  Gholston of Michigan State (good swatter of balls….reminenence on JJ SWATT) or Sanders Cummings of Georgia (cornerback-safety hybrid…. reminiscent of Glover  Quin)-  Sanders Cummings

6. 5th round 27 pick: Tight end/defensive end –   Joe Kruger of Utah…..It hard to pick a good TE at this point but Kruger will be a good fit

7. 6th round 27 pick: Nose tackle-  Kwame Geathers  of Georgia .

The rest are too uncertain to pick……

Sad day for LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

As we LAKERS fans agonize the season ending Achilles injury to my favorite player in the NBA…..Kobe Bryant, we begin to think is the this the beginning of the end of the man that is few inches away from being Micheal Jordan….and most of all the “greatest player in NBA history”…..I hope he can recover and be at the cream top next season…..He is my 2013 NBA MVP.

Best soccer player of the year…..

I am literally tired of the FIFA rankings of Messi vs Ronaldo.Lets face it, Messi was a dissapointment this year, I hate the present dayBarcelona.  I look at a players impact on the team, the important passes/goals from these players and the team’s progression. These are rankings from of the Top 3 players:

3. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)  60 goals and 12 assists……got the Barcelona off their backs and won the Spanish league

Image Detail

2. Robin Van Persie (Arsenal)-  37 goals 12 assists…………..the triumphant return of Arsenal from the pits of 16h position in the English primership to finishing 3rd  is quite commendable and Van persie was instrumental in the Arsenal’s turnaround.

Finally for the best player of last season……….drum rolls

1. Didier Drogba (Chelsea)- 13 goals 4 assists………Yes he scored the least on the list but he scored the most important goals of all beat players list, he scored the lone goal against Barcelona and the pivotal champion cup final penalty kick that ensured  Chelsea’s victory and also winning the FA cup……It is tough to give him beacase of statistics but He played his heart for Chelsea and is leaving Chelsea with his head up high as a LEGEND……Father Drogba!!!!!!!!!!

The winner is…………

Being a Houston Rocket fan, I hate to say this but the San Antonio spurs are winning the championship this year. The depth chart of the spurs is incomparable to any playoff team. The Oklahoma Thunder is the next franchise to win championships in the coming years after Tim Duncan leaves the spurs. The Heat wont ever win a championship….why? because they built a trio not a team in Miami and Lebron James is a great player but he should have stayed in Cleveland and gotten a top-notch player not vacating to Miami. San Antonio will win because of its depth and experience. The Celtics are too old and need to rejuvenate their team with younger athletic players. Lebron can win all the MVP’S but I believe his legacy will be tainted by his move to Miami Heat.  Thge Lakers need to get rid of thier coach, Ron Artest…yes Ron Artest not Metta World Peace and probably trade Pau Gasol, they need to regenerate a New Lakers team and bring back Lamar Odom.

Current state of Houston Texans ……..

Today was an eventful day because the Texans have awoken to the cries of the fans……CUT/TRADE JACOBY JONES…After the first season, my mind was made up that Jacoby will be the downfall of the team. Last season playoff finale with the Baltimore Ravens showed how much he is a destitute failure. I remember him fumbling a punt return and missing a key third down con=version catch. He is simply horrible with the addition of dratted DeVier Posey and Keyshawn Martin would overcome the failed Jacoby.

Image Detail…….. WHACK, TERRIBLE, EMBARRASSING….ares some of the verbs to describe Jacoby Jones

In my perspective, Houston Texans have drafted really good as 0f 2007 to present except Kareem Jackson; who I suspected will see the same ill fate as Jacoby Jones. I hope Houston see this coming and avoid embarrassment like Jacoby Jones. Draft- From Mercillius to Crick to Martin to Posey, Brooks and Jones, they add value to key positions to our team. I think Houston will fair well in our division and come out victorious with a probable 10-6 record like last year.

We still need to add depth line especially the Right guard and right tackle positions; I am not completely sold with Butler and Caldwell. Maybe a veteran receiver wont hurt(not too old…no more more Derrick Mason/Eric Moulds type). Add more defensive backs too……

The Peyton Manning earthquake………….

Peyton's Old Colt image.......

The salivating day of  reckoning has unequivocally arrived. The QB race was the highlight of free agency  starring San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos,Tennessee titans, Miami Dolphins , Arizona Cardinals,  Seattle Seahawks. The news of Peyton Manning resonated in the sports world as the  most prolific quarterback to  enter free agency. Denver became the eventual winners of race. This move by Peyton affects a lot teams namely:

Denver Broncos: Peyton adds championship caliber quality to a young team. Surrounding Peyton with familiar faces like Dallas Clark, Jeff Saturday will make a smooth transition to the team. The question of everybody’s minds surrounds the future of Tim Tebow. We all roared to the sight of the unconventional Tim Tebow wining close  and important games with unorthodox quarterback play. John Elway was not completely sold on the SWEEPING “Tebowmania” simply that winning a championship incorporates conventional quarterback positioning. It was either the divine power of God or pure luck that guided the success of Tim Tebow’s Denver era.

Tim Tebow fate is tied to a trading block or release. It is sad to watch Tim Tebow leave the Broncos; I was a big fan of Tebowmania. Personally, I think Tebow will become a 2nd string Quarterback in a team like Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, San Franscsico 49ers  New England Patriots or New York Jets…………It will be a sad season for Denver Broncos that Peyton Manning gets seriously injured again or live up to the Superbowl hype or Tim Tebow becomes a top tier quaterback. It is a somewhat risky move by the Broncos but the benefits are huge…..

Peyton Manning future Denver uniform
The unforgettable Tim Tebow stance-"TEBOWING"
Manning: I am a big Fan of Teboowmania but I am coming for your Job....keep your head up.
Tebow: It is alright, there were gonna dump me anyway......Goodluck!!

San Francisco 49ers: Losing Manning is a blow to the team that was a step behind last year’s Superbowl. They put all the eggs in a basket by chasing Manning leaving behind Alex Smith. Alex smith was unsurprisingly  upset at the team pursuit of Manning but he needs to suck it up and take it as a challenge and understand that the NFL is a business. Eventually, Alex smith will sign with 49ers and get his pride back by winning games.

Miami Dolphins: The biggest losers of the Manning chase. They lost Chad Henne to the Jacksonville Jaguars, lost  Brandon Marshall to a trade to Bears and  lost Free agent Matt Flynn to the Seattle Seahawks. The only is probably Tim TEBOW or Alex smith(signing him a bigger contract than 3 yr 24Million by the 49ers) or trading up to get Ryan Tannerhill from Texas A&M. I feel extremely sorry for this team.

Houston Texans: Being a Houstonian myself, I am very happy Peyton Manning is out of our divsion. The yearly punishment from Peyton(Colts) on us was unbearable for us. Houston has no excuses, the division is at our feet now and seizing it will guarantee chances to a Superbowl appearance. The sad fate of Mario Williams to Buffalo Bills is a blow to our defense but the ingenuity of Wade Phillips defensive scheme will progressively cover the void by MARIO WILLIAMS.

Jacksonville JAGUARS: Take a chance with Tebow as 3rd stringer but Chad Henne and Blaine Gabbert are still on the roster!!!!!!!!!!!!….

Tennessee Titans: at least Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker are at their disposal.

Nnamdi Asomugha for Houston Texans

With a  last name that is unpronounceable in my daily vocabulary, I am rooting seriously for my Houston Texans to take a major stake towards acquiring Nnamdi. Apart form Darelle Revis in the Jets, Nnamdi has been a consistent and reputable shutdown corner that all other corner backs try to emulate from. Pairing him up with Kareem Jackson (2nd year Defensive back) would help develop him to elite level (hopefully).  Nnamdi’s presence will help Texan’s defensive numbers and create havoc for Peyton Manning( Our divisional Number one enemy). The pairing of Andre Johnson (Best receiver in the league) and Nnamdi Asomugha ( second best corner back) will be a must watch scenario that will elevate Texans to stardom, maybe playoffs and raise the Superbowl trophy. Irrespective of the price tag of Nnamdi’s acquisition, I feel his presence will highly valued.

A look at Raiders defensive stats showed that they allowed 189 passing yards per game which was the league’s second best.
