Why do cats eyes glow in the dark?…….

Why do  a cat eyes shine brightly in the dark especially when you point a flash light at their eyes?…..Why aren’t they bright in day time?…… Why doesn’t humans  have similar response in the dark like cats?…..

Cats have retro-reflecting(reflected light back to the source with low attenuation and back scattering) eyes that are noticeable in the dark. The eye incorporates a lens and curved mirror that returns light in a cone which then passes the source of light. In the case of cats, there is a layer of zinc cyestine crystals behind the retina that provides the high reluctance.
